Classic climb to Ben Macdui (1,309m), second summit of Great Britain (after Ben Nevis), and the Cairn Gorm (1,245m). It's very simple, a little long but without technical difficulty.
Be part of a large parking lot from which the same route begins. The path is easily recognizable. First you get the Ben Macdui, and then the Cairn Gorm.
Once past the Cairn Gorm you arrive at the Ptarmigan station, where there is a bar, services, shop, ... Here is the highest altitude restaurant in Britain, and apparently it is very crowded for dinner ...
This station is full of people, because you get on a very popular funicular, the Caringorm Mountain Railway. From there we walk down, but it is possible to get off at the funicular if it arrives before 16 or 16:30 (consult better in case on the Internet).
Trying to make this route upside down, climbing first with the funicular up to Ptarmigan and saving yourself some unevenness, can be problematic, since 'they do not allow' to leave the station to people who have climbed on the funicular. I do not know what the reason is. I suppose for safety ... What draws attention is that the road from the station to the Cairn Gorm is very well signposted and fixed, which seems to indicate clearly that it is for 'sundays' to venture from the station. We saw a few ...
It is not dangerous at all, but people go without the slightest preparation, and the weather changes very quickly and the fog can be very dense.
In short, highly recommended route. Beware of the changing weather of Scotland. You always have to wear warm clothes.

Easy walk, less than 5 hours, moving time 4:15. Unfortunately, couldn't enjoy the scenery in full because of the cloudy and windy (~70 mph) day.
