A beautiful circular route in the upper Vipava valley, an area where the most violent bora reigns in winter but in spring it is covered with green meadows and its gentle hills welcome crowds of walkers and cyclists. Today, with our large group, we choose to reach Razdrto by car, from here then left to Veliko Ubelisko and then to Strane where we park near a small basketball court. Our path winds at the foot of the Nanos to reach the well-known Predjama castle, always very suggestive, it seems to emerge directly from a rocky side of the mountain. We are one step away from the even more famous Postojna cave but they will remain out of our tour today. We continue through meadows and woods with minimal ups and downs of rest. A stop at the church of San Michele that a very kind local character opens for us with a key that he must have asked Gulliver. Today's theme: spring meadows as far as the eye can see, small rural villages that look so much like those of neighboring Austria and little churches scattered on top of gentle hills.
