Strada Romana

Il punto di partenza dell'escursione è la Cala Bernardini, meglio nota come la spiaggia di Pinus Village (dal nome dell'insediamento turistico presente alle sue spalle). Per arrivarci bisogna imboccare la S.S. 195 in direzione Pula. In prossimità del km 42 si trova verso sinistra una deviazione per Pinus Village; dopo alcuni tornanti che scendono si può parcheggiare l'auto in prossimità dello spiazzo principale del villaggio. Una volta raggiunto lo spiazzo principale del villaggio si prosegue a piedi fino a raggiungere la spiaggia e seguendo le scogliere di granito rosa a destra del piccolo ma incantevole arenile. Tra le rocce si scorge un sentierino che arriva fino alla strada romana.
L'itinerario, di circa 5 km di lunghezza (sola andata, deviazioni escluse), segue tra Pinus Village e Chia il percorso dell'antica strada romana, in alcuni tratti ancora si può riconoscere il lastricato, risalente al IV secolo d.c., che collegava gli antichi insediamenti di Nora e Bithia
Il percorso procede sulla scogliera, in quota rispetto al livello del mare, tra i profumi intensi del mare, della macchia mediterranea e della vicina pineta. Si scorgono alcune calette raggiungibili solo via mare o calandosi dalle rocce e, infine, una spiaggetta più ampia al termine di un canalone sul cui fondo scorre un ruscelletto. Attraversato il canalone, ci si inerpica per un tratto breve e non difficile sulle rocce e si raggiunge la strada romana.

The starting point of the excursion is Cala Bernardini, better known as the Pinus Village beach (from the name of the tourist settlement behind it). To follow, take the S.S. 195 in the direction of Pula. Near km 42 there is a detour to the left for Pinus Village; after a few hairpin bends that go down you can park your car in the area of ​​the main square of the village. Once you reach the main square of the village, continue on foot until you reach the beach and following the pink granite cliffs to the right of the small but enchanting beach. Among the rocks you can see a path that goes up to the Roman road.
The itinerary, about 5 km long (one way, deviations excluded), follows the path of the ancient Roman road between Pinus Village and Chia, in some sections you can still recognize the paving, dating back to the fourth century AD, which connected the ancient settlements of Nora and Bithia
The route continues on the cliff, at an altitude with respect to the sea level, between the intense scents of the sea, the Mediterranean scrub and the nearby pine forest. You can see some coves that can only be reached by sea or by descending from the rocks and, finally, a wider beach at the end of a canal on whose bottom a stream flows. After crossing the canal, it climbs for a short and not difficult stretch on the rocks and leads to the Roman road.
