Itinerary description
Here is one of the many "klompenpaden" in the province of Utrecht, just east of Amersfoort.
Although the trail more or less officially starts from the carpark next to Stoutenburg castle, you can also depart from the T O P (toeristisch overstap punt) and nature reserve De Schammer. Here there is plenty of space to park you car and this is what I did.
A nice trail only a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of the city of Amerfoort which remains in view along some parts of this track as high rise buildings and flats.
Apart from crossing the quiet Stoutenburg estate you''ll come across quite a few waters such as Barneveldse beek and the fens in the nature reserves of Bloeidaal and de Schammer.
As to be expected, there is some traffic noise from the nearby A 28 motorway when you walk almost next to it on the most western part of this trail.
By the way, the (10/11 km) klompenpad offers the possibility to take a shortcut which I did, turning this into an 8 km trail. You find the extra loop you can do on the Stoutenburger estate right before you cross a little bridge that turns onto the road. If you turn right at this point you'll extend the hike by 2 kms.
