Itinerary description
A very easy hike to Storvatnet lake. Trail begins from the Knuten trail head in Mefjordvaer.
The trail is almost level and is not at all difficult. There are wooden planks in areas which tend to become water logged and muddy. In the summers, the path is not water logged as much as in the fall when the moss and vegetation absorbs a lot of water like sponge. A wrongly placed step will result into water seeping out of the moss and covering the whole shoe. So wear good, water resistant hiking shoes.
The view of the lake and the reflection of the mountains on the lake is top notch. Don’t forget to walk to the other side as well. Just change direction at the fork. The views are even better. Wear good quality boots that are water repellent in fall. Carry insect repellent in summers due to the millions of mosquitoes and other insects that want a taste of your blood. All in all a very easy and rewarding hike.
