STL5 Trindade – Rui Vaz

Trindade é conhecida como local de exploração de água, mas também como o primeiro local onde Charles Darwin observou um Baobá (Imbondeiro). É precisamente neste local, onde o naturalista descansou, que o percurso rumo a Rui Vaz inicia. O percurso começa numa estrada empedrada que passa em frente da prisão para depois entrar num caminho de terra que segue entre hortas. Segue-se uma subida gradual pela estrada de terra até Achada Descanso e Achada Batista onde, desde o alto, se consegue observar o vale de Ribeira Covão e as pequenas manchas verdes das hortas salpicam a paisagem. Numa contínua subida, o percurso interceta e cruza a estrada empedrada que liga São Domingos a Rui Vaz e continua pelo trilho até Pedra Galinha. Já avistando Rui Vaz é necessário seguir pela crista da montanha até Covão de Rui Vaz para finalmente entrar no destino final deste percurso, onde encontrará locais para se refrescar e descansar. Ao chegar à estrada em¬pedrada, o percurso segue à esquerda até ao mi¬radouro de Rui Vaz onde há ligação com outros percursos.


Trindade is known as a place for water exploita¬tion, but also as the first place where Charles Darwin observed one Baobá (Imbondeiro). It is in this exact place, where the naturalist rested, that the trail initiates in direction to Rui Vaz. The trail starts in a rocky road that passes in front of the prison and then moves to a track that goes along several gardens. It then moves through a progressive climb on the track to Achada Des¬canso and Achada Batista where, from the top, you can observe the valley of Ribeira Covão and the small green spots of the gardens that cov¬er the landscape. On a continuous climb, the trail intercepts and crosses the rocky road that connects São Domingos to Rui Vaz and moves forward through a track to Pedra Galinha. Once you see Rui Vaz, the trail follows by the moun¬tain crest towards Covão de Rui Vaz and finally enters on the destination of this trail, where you will find nice places to rest and cool down. When you reach the rocky road, the trail moves left to the viewpoint of Rui Vaz where you will find con¬nection with other trails
