Itinerary description

While many people hike this trail and I've given it a moderate rating, hikers need to be confident in their ability. There are sections that traverse a step hillside with a single track trail. And there are a couple of places where the hiker will need to step very carefully for a step or two where the trail is only inches wide. Hike poles will be an aid for many people.

You can go either left or right. We chose right going down and came back up the other way. I thought that was a good choice.

Depending on the water level more rocks and bars are exposed. This picture was taken when the water level was low.

Overhead you can hear trains passing through the first area that presented great difficulty for the Central Pacific RR in their construction of the western part of the transcontinental railroad.
