Itinerary description
St’epants’minda & Gergeti are small tourist town in Georgia bordering Russia.
The towns are popular destination among hikers.
The Trinity Church hike is very popular during spring. We decided to hike as we can and started off in midst of winter after two days of snowfall. We encountered 2-2.5 feet of soft snow on trail and being unknown trail it was risky without a guide and we were just 2. Did half trail on regular trail but later took snow covered road to walk on to Trinity Church. The route we took ended up 2 kms long but was much safer.
Very nice views of Mt. Kazbegi.
Moderate trail is difficult in winter.
