STC9 Porto Rincão – Águas Belas – Achada Leite – Ribeira da Barca

Este percurso desvenda alguns dos segredos de Santiago, a que só é possível ter acesso a caminhar ou pelo mar. Inicia na Vila de Porto Rincão e segue ao longo da costa onde se pode observar o vaivém dos pescadores na sua faina diária. No rendilhar da costa, pequenas lagoas convidam a um mergulho. A parte inicial do percurso é praticamente plana e sem vegetação. Uma pequena subida para um ligeiro planalto dá lugar a uma descida até Águas Belas, local onde se pode aceder às famosas grutas com o mesmo nome. Do verdejante vale de Águas Belas, o percurso segue por um trilho costeiro até Achada Leite. Em Achada Leite, é necessário continuar para o interior até aceder ao vale seguinte, onde as hortas e trapiches marcam a paisagem. A chegada a Ribeira da Barca faz-se por uma estrada junto à costa que permite ter uma visão panorâmica deste pequeno oásis. Ao chegar poderá saborear um peixe acabado de pescar.

This trail unveils some of the secrets of Santiago, whose access can only be granted by walking of by the sea. It initiates in the village of Rincão Port and moves along the coast where it is possible of observe the daily works of the fishing men. Through the uneven coast, small lagoons invite for a bath. The first part of the trail is mostly plane and without vegetation. A small climb to a plateau followed by a decline gives access to Águas Belas, a place where you can visit the famous caves with the same name. From the greenery valley of Águas Belas, the trail moves through a coastal track towards Achada Leite. In Achada Leite, it is necessary to move further into the interior to reach the next valley, where the gardens and trapiches abound in the landscape. The arrival to Ribeira da Barca is through a road next to the coast, which offers a panoramic view of this little oasis. Once you have arrived, you may enjoy a fish freshly captured.
