Itinerary description
This trail is a variation on an earlier trail we did a year before. And this is the better one ;) Even more variation and more importantly, less monotonous along the final stretch.
No difficulties at all along the paths.
Located in the middle of the Veluwe area, the highlights of this hike are definitely Staverden castle and estate, Speulderveld and Ermelose heide. The castle is known for its white exterior and its white peacocks; the grounds around the castle are at their best when the rhododendrons are in bloom.
Naturally, Speulder/Sprielder wood also has its appeal through the typical trees you come across along the forest paths, also referred to as "the dancing trees".
The trail has a most pleasant balance between open moorlands and meadows and forests, offering plenty of shade on a hot summer day.
With Brasserie Staverden on the charming 17th century estate there is catering nearby, before or after your hike.
All in all, a fantastic hike in a great area!

Here an arrow points towards a so-called "rustpunt" where you can take a drink or snack. When we were there, it wasn't open.
