Itinerary description
An easier and safer side of stairway to heaven loop hike following the right side of the trail and bacl same way.
The hike difficulty is moderately challenging. The route is easy to follow but it has lots of loose rocks and scree, some parts are steep climb following man made steps and donkey path.
The hike starts at wadi Ghalialh dam, but if you have 4x4, you can go further for 2km until a small village and start hiking from there.
We had 4x4 so the starting point was at the before mentioned village.
We hiked up to the balcony and invisible (dry waterfall, which only appears after the rain), then continued hiking up following the donkey path. This part was the steepest and had lots of loose rocks-something to watch out when climbong down. We had to turn back because it started to get dark. Otherwise if continue up, you can reach Woh village.
Start hiking early in the morning if you want to make it to the top without rush and avoid hiking back in the dark.
Most of the tume you will be hiking in the shade, also there are shaded resting spots along the way.

Is this hike 20 km there and back or you just marked it as one way because you returned the same way? In other words, did it take you 7 hours to go there and back or 7 there then 7 back? Thanks!
Hi Veronika, this is a total distance two ways- forward and back-around 10km. It is a one-way trail, which means you return the same way and I recorded the whole hike. So one way it would have been around 5 km. We spent 7 hours in total, including all the stops, moving time was 4 hours, probably can be done faster.
