Itinerary description
Stairway to Heaven Right Bank from Wadi Lithibah.
This Hike is also known as Woh Village Hike ( false name ), but the Village at the summit of this trail is known as Ras al Ghash.
The Trail is well marked by its path, there are no Painted Flags or Trail marker stones. The path is very clear and visible as the farmers and the hikers have been using this trail regularly.
The Trail starts in Wadi Litibah. The last section of approach road is bit rocky and large pebbles, so a good clearance vehicle is required. Many hikers park their vehicles at Wadi Ghalilah Dam parking and walk about 2 kms to the Trail head. 4WD or AWD vehicle is an advantage although good clearance Sedan also can manage the graded road.
The Sedan cars can be parked at Ghalilah Dam parking. This location is about 3 kms from the trail head of STH RB.

The High clearance / SUV / 4X4 Cars can be driven very close to the Trailhead, into the village in Wadi Litibah,
Make sure you dont block the road, or access to the private houses there. Park in nice order.

Once you reach the Trail head, you simply follow the path, some steps, some ups and downs etc and the trail takes you through through the short Balcony walk and then to a dried Water fall and then later to the summit via a steep loose rocks path and then by some man made stairs to the Summit.
In between, you will get to rest on Stone table and benches in about 4 places.
The Ras al Ghash village on the summit is simply beautiful with farms and goats.
The farmers are friendly too.
While descending down, take care as the long distance and steep slope will take toll on your knees and ankles. A hiking pole is advantageous.
Best to start early in the morning so that you get maximum shade from Sun and longer daylight to enjoy and explore the hike.
Take minimum 5 Liters of water, suitable Hiking shoes, Head lamps and batteries and snacks.
Enjoy the Stairway hike.

Hi Patrick,
Hope you are doing great.
Had a few queries around this hike, as was planning to go tmoro along with a couple others.
1. Can a AWD(ford edge) reach the trail head?
2. I assume the trail is marked till the top right, can we expect anything risky or narrow that exists in the left bank? Like narrow stairways?
3. Also I belive the trail would be shaded mostly right?
And finally, the descent can we expect a descent with loose gravel or is it just walking along a natural steps
Hello Mayur, Glad to know that you will follow my Trail.
Below are my responses.
1. Yes, a AWD will easily reach the Trail start point, the graded offroad is bit better now. Small pebbles but easily manageable. You should reach the village at the end of the offroad and Park in such a way that the villagers are not inconvinienced.
2. The Trail is NOT marked but the Trail is well laid and you can not get lost. Just follow my trail and the trail that you are walking. It will take you all the way up to the Village.
There are no risky narrow areas, but there are stone steps which are broad enough.
3. If you start walking at 6am, you can cover 70% Ascent in Shade.
If you start later and depending on your pace, the Sunlight may affect you.
4. The Descent is always affecting the Knees and ankles anywhere, but this trail has better descent as compared to Ghalilah descent which has slippery trail. You will be fine. Take Hiking pole for better descent movements.
Hope my response is good enough and helps you to hike this beautiful Trail.
Be Safe, go prepared and Enjoy the Hike.
All the best.
Many thanks Patrick for the clarity. This helps a lot..

Thanks Patrick for your inputs. I was able to complete this hike safely and had fun. The weather was amazing and the top part was full of cloud n fog (we were lucky). No sun exposure at all. We completed this hike in 6 hours with sufficient breaks.
Dear Mayur,
I am happy to know that you found my inputs useful and that you have a great hike.
To complete the whole hike in 6 hours is really impressive stats, looks like you are a Pro.
Take care my friend and enjoy your times on the mountains.
Stay Safe and Have good outings away from the grid.
Hi Patrick, The hike is very well described. Though I have few questions if you can help out:
1. Are there any steep wall climbing in this hike?
2. Does this loop finish to the summit like peak of the STH.
3. How much is the difference in difficulty between STH right bank and the whole loop
I have done few hikes (like Wadi Shah, Naqab etc) and thinking to do this next. For the loop, I am not comfortable to go alone but for right bank, Is it fine to go alone taking all precautions?
Thanks for your help
Hi Rob,
My advise as below.
1. No, there are no steep wall hikes in STH Right bank.
2. This trail ends at the Ras al Ghash village at the top of the mountain, but its not a Summit. The summit of Jais is 3kms further away. Not recorded in this trail.
3. It's difficult for me to grade the level of Full loop and Right bank as both trails are very different in terms of Distance, elevation gain, terrain and of course fitness / fright level of the hiker.
This hike is a well laid trail with no dangers.
4. I don't suggest anyone to go alone on any wilderness hikes of any grade alone irrespective of their fitness or experience.
Hope these inputs are helpful to you.
Thank you Patrick. This helps. I am trying to find someone for this one. Hope i do find😅
Usually that trail is little busy with intermediate hikers.
If not, check on fb group called Hiking uae for anyone who is hiking the trail.
Hi Rob, Did you manage to hike STH Right bank ?
Hi Patrick, is the location for the trail parking on this pin for a 4x4 or for a sedan. I want to the 4x4 parking.
Hi Michelle,
The Sedan cars can be parked at Ghalilah Dam parking. This location is about 3 kms from the trail head of STH RB.
