Itinerary description
The trail leaves from the camp site and follows the Jökulsá river. It is reasonably well marked until the first canyon, but then we lost track of it. At the campsite there was a notice that this is a new trail and they are in the process of improving it.
After the canyon, the terrain becomes a bit rough, and we sometimes had to walk through bushes and over swampy areas, crossing the river several times (without getting our feet wet). At the end, we climbed up onto a hilltop from which there were some nice views then and turned around. It may be worth venturing on a bit further from there.

A really lovely walk - I saw no one else whatsoever. I mixed it up a bit by climbing on to a ridge path at the end which had some great views and meant it was a loop.
