Itinerary description
Svartegga is a nice Summertime trail if the sun joins your efforts. From Lotsstøylen at the fence, you follow the road up towards Sendaren, about 1.6 km walk. Then, take off from the road at about 700 meters altitude. Here you first cross over a somewhat marshy area before you can follow the easy terrain eastwards. After passing a pond, turn right and up the ridge towards Svartegga sumit. There are visible footpath anymore, just climb. Follow the ridge south towards the viewpoint and the large cairn which is located at height 1047 m. From Svartegga, you enjoy a great 360° panaroma on the Nordjord, Eidsfjorden and Hundvikfjorden and all the surrounding mountains.
The trip is a little over 8 km round trip with about 600 meters ascent. After the gravel road, there is a vague step backwards towards Maragjølbakken and there are some small guards set up along the way. Up the ridge there is easy terrain without a path / marking. The trip can be nicely combined with a stop at Maragjølbakken.
You have to expect about 2-3 hours of time to the top if you have children.
