Itinerary description
Base of Squaw Valley ski resort to High Camp tram terminal. The trail is a chance to see what you ski on during the winter and an easy to get to high elevation hike. Very little shade, but nice views and several water falls.
I call the hike moderate because it is steep, has a few spots with loose rocks and you sometimes have to pay attention to the map and the blue paint marks on the ground to make the correct turns.
There are restrooms, shops and vending machines at both ends of the trail. Parking is free at Squaw's main lot. The tram costs $32 to ride up (and avoid this hike), but is free to ride down and runs 10:40am to 5 or 6pm. Other trails start at High Camp. And you can go roller skating! :-) See http://www.squaw.com/things-to-do/other-summer-activities/hiking#content_title for more info.
