Itinerary description
The Spring Mountain Caldera circuit in Spring Mountain Conservation Estate.
Starts in Thornbill Dr past the water reservoir, ascends a spur of Spring Mountain via rough service tracks before a rocky ridge. Then a scramble up Spring Mountain for 360 degree views of the scenic rim and Springfield Lakes.
Then a 4km off track walk through open forest on a number of small ridges with beautiful rock formations. Finally reaching the Yuddimin trail, then back to the start via several fire trails including the steep David Savage fire trail.
Showcases the entire Caldera that is the watershed for several watercourses, such as Bundama, Woogaroo, Mountain, Opossum and Oxley creeks.

Did this one today... Thanks for the trail map Darren! Balancing Rock was the highlight for me on this trip. Loved it! My trek deviated a bit from balancing rock to Yaddamun Trail as I bushbashed a bit exploring, crossed a dry creek filled with my favourite dream plant, lantana, and came to the main trail. That shortcut prob shaved off a few kms compared to yours.
