Itinerary description
It is a nice short circular trail which is bypassing Spilia village and you may make a detour into the village itself. The village is popular by holding a mushroom festival sometime in November, so you may combine the two activities.
You will as well pass by a small local winery which is located precisely on the trail.
TERRAIN: narrow forest paths, concrete and asphalt roads, easy ups and downs. From my starting point you will descend into the village, then short walk on its outskirts, after that ascend to asphalt road. Partially the forest paths are eroded by the streams to the point that some parts will not be walkable soon if absence of maintenance continues. Some parts are overgrown.
SEASON: the trail is potentially walkable all year round. The trail is mostly in shade, apart from the asphalt section. In summers it may be walkable the other way around (starting from descent along asphalt road). In winter there may be snow on the trail.
SIGNS: there are plenty of signs along the way both for the plants and direction. Plenty of benches for such a short trail, fountains and places to rest. However the trail seems somewhat obsolete because of the partially ruined paths and overgrown spots.
KIDS: it's fine for the kids of any age, hopefully that the trail is still walkable.
In case this trail is not enough, you may proceed to the nearby Madari Trail either by making just part of it https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/pezounokremmos-trail-part-of-madari-circular-trail-saranti-86017723 or the trail in whole https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/madari-circular-trail-in-snow-spilia-98413676.
The are a few parking places at the trail start on the roads intersection.
