Itinerary description
The South River Falls Trail begins at the rear lot of the South River Picnic Area near Mile Marker 62.7 on the Skyline Drive. Although you can hike to the falls and return by the same trail, this track of 3.4 mi descends on the South River Trail to the falls overlook, then continues on about and takes a connecting link to return via the South River Fire Road and the Appalachian Trail to the starting point. This overlook is at the Falls top. For the hardy, there is more trail (not tracked here) that will take you about a mile more to the bottom of the falls.
