Itinerary description
This is an obscure, rarely hiked tie trail that ties the South Fork Rubicon Trail with the the Old Rubicon Trail. It is essentially a bypass trail that saves footsteps and time by avoiding the steep, switchbacking decent (or climb) along the South Fork Trail. The trail has fallen into disuse, and is quite overgrown in some areas, but it goes through some old growth trees and underneath some cliff-like boulders. It is a pretty trail. The trail is designated for hikers, horses, and bicycles. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on this trail and prohibited on the Old Rubicon, and South Fork Rubicon Trails. Motorized vehicles are (unfortunately) permitted on the opposite side of the river on the Hunters Trail. Please respect the travel designations.
