Day 3
Our host drove us back to Santa Mariña and we began to walk along quiet roads back in the direction of the lake, Embalse da Fervenza. We passed many farms and saw the scale and importance of agriculture in this region.
The first climb of the day took us to the summit of Monte Aro, the highest point of our camino so far with fantastic views over the lake.
We stopped for coffee in Lago at Monte Aro, another great choice ( by now we are realising that all the coffee and lunch stops on this route are pretty good!)
We had lunch in Olveira at Casa Loncho, a welcome stop after a longish section on road. Olveira is a small village with a few choices for lunch and we made a good one.
The next stage of the walk was our favourite of the day, we crossed the Rio Santa Lucia and followed a track uphill with lovely views then crossed the river again at a picturesque bridge before reaching Logoso.
Shortly after the small settlement of Hospital is the busy road junction where the Camino path splits, one way to Finisterra and the other to Muxia.
We headed in the Muxia direction.
The least pleasant section of the route today was along a road for approx 2k before we turned off to walk on a forest path to the hamlet of As Carizas. We bought camino seashells here from a lovely lady in a village house.
Our last night was just outside this hamlet at Casa a Pichona ... a fantastic B&B with the most wonderful hosts and food worthy of a top restaurant, totally unexpected and wonderful.
Hasta 2025 Camino!
