Itinerary description
Trail marked here is from Sondai fort top till Rambaug point in Matheran.
This was an unplanned trek. We only intended to trek Sondai, but since we got at Sondai top very early, we decided to go to Matheran from Rambaug point.
We hired a local guide as even though I did know the routes partially from Burujwadi (used this excellent blog from TheFreeBird - https://www.thefreebird.net/blog/rambaug-point-trek), we thought it was wise to take a guide. He charged us 500 rs.
The routes passes through sondewadi village - a connecting stream to Morbe dam - Bavdhan village(!) - 2/3 small hills/ridge with no shade literally - chowki - rambaug. The trail had forest covers in between.
Please carry atleast 10-12 water bottles. There are no stalls in the entire route. We did this in scorching heat and took lot of halts.
Overall it was a very tiring trek in this summer months, but could be much easier during rainy or winter seasons.
Note: A local stall told us that a group of 40 odd people had come earlier in the night at 5 am trekking to Rambaug point from the downwards village. This might be a good idea as it could save you from the heat
(!) - Unsure if that village is Bavdhan or Dandwadi as said in the blog
