Itinerary description
This is a beautiful trail along the Hot Creek in Soldier Meadows. Its located withing the Black Rock Desert - High Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The main trail along the creek is well marked, easy to follow and is a out and back trail. It is in the dirt and there are some rocks so it probably isn't wheel chair accessible. To do the trail as a loop follows cairns. At least that is what the sign at the Trail-head located at the campground said. However I quickly lost the loop (return trail and it ended up being a relatively, albeit rocky, off trail meander back to trail head. Please be respectful of the creek, it is a area of critical habitat. The Desert Dace is a endangered fish that only lives in the hot creek and the little yellow Cinqufoil flower can only be found here and the slopes of Lassen Peak. If you want to get away and experience true Nevada isolation this trail and campground will satisfy.
