Marked linear walk (Soska Pot) along part of the Soča River, one of the most beautiful and preserved Alpine rivers, in Triglav National Park, Julian Alps, Slovenia.
After taking the bus in Bovec, get off at the Vas na Skali stop, next to Kamp Jelinc and Korita, to start this route back to Bovec.
Soon we come across beautiful examples of the “small gorge of the Soča”, narrow cavities through which the blue water of the river flows. This is the “small gorge” as opposed to the “big gorge” next to the Lepena Krizisce bus stop, just before reaching Kamp Soča. The difference is in the height of these cavities, delicate and lower the first, amazing and taller the second; but both impressive and very beautiful in the color of the water and in the shape of the rock - limestone, carved by water over millions of years. In many places whirlpools are formed.
After the great gorge, stop for a dip in the fresh water of the river, where many people spend their summers. Be careful, however, since the current is strong - it can reach 30 kms per hour in times of greater torrent.
From Kamp Soča the river widens and the valley opens up, with the huge mountains as a frame. But further on, the river and the valley narrow again. In other words, this route is carried out either through an open valley or through a closed valley, in this case under thick vegetation. There are many bridges, several of them made of suspended wood, of those that shake as we pass, from where you can admire picturesque landscapes.
This route is always flat, but not entirely easy, as there are a lot of rocks and tree roots to step on, which is tedious.
End of the trail at Kamp Liza, but to reach Bovec, considered the most important center for outdoor activities in Slovenia, it takes another 2 kms through open countryside through a very beautiful green valley with huge mountain peaks on both sides.
