Itinerary description
This is a pleasant hike from Osbourne Bay Regional Park a short ways up the eastern slope of Maple Mountain. It then returns to the beach at Smith Bay.
The trail is through the forest and is mostly wide and groomed. There are glimpses of the ocean on the way back down. At the beach, you will be looking across to Saltspring Island. Check the tide table before you go! The beach is quite narrow when the tide is high (as on this day).
The Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an American Volksports Association rating of 2B.
