Itinerary description
Trailhead is near Kilcash village, south Tipperary. From the village go uphill and turn left, following signs for Slievenamon Summit. Park responsibly at farm building.
At the top of the lane leading to Slievenamon Summit, cross the farm gate and immediately turn right, following a green path into a rather eerie forest. Go uphill, ignoring daylight ahead, and stay as close as possible to the broad green path thru the forest. This is blocked by fallen trees in a number of spots, so you will need to enter the forest to your right, keeping the path in sight at all times as you move through the moss covered and rather creepy trees.
Emerge from the forest and cross a barbed wire fence and then cross the field, heading diagonally for a gate in the lower end of the field. Cross this, and the mountain path is straight ahead.
This is a relatively easy walk, following paths and commercial forest roads all the way.
Allow about 4 hours in total, including a stop for lunch for the 15 kilometers involved.
