Slavkovsky stit (2452 m) from Stary Smokovec [es | en]

Esta ruta de subida a Slavkovský štít empieza en la población de Starý Smokovec. Este lugar es muy turístico y tendremos que dejar el coche en uno de los muchos parkings que encontramos. Quizás sea posible dejar el coche unos cientos de metros mas abajo, fuera del pueblo, para evitar tener que pagar. Yo pagué 10 Euros por aparcarlo todo el día.

Esta ruta se puede dividir en tres secciones bien diferenciadas:
La primera parte, de algo mas de un kilometro y medio, consiste en un camino de piedras bien ancho hasta llegar a la desviación de subida a Slavkovský štít.
La segunda parte, que tras unos dos kilometros de senda nos llevará hasta el mirador.
Y la tercera y última parte, de casi 4 Km por zona de rocas, que va desde el mirador hasta la cima.

La pendiente es constante durante todo el camino aunque se va incrementando conforme subimos.
Esta ruta en ningún momento es difícil pero si pasa, en la tercera parte, por zonas de rocas donde en algún punto puede ser algo mas difícil moverse. En general las rocas parecen puestas por su lado plano para facilitar el andar.

En el mirador hay una placa con el perfil de las montañas que se pueden ver, incluida la cima del Slavkovský štít. Da la sensación de que la cima está muy cerca y esto puede llevar a engaño puesto que desde este punto todavía tenemos mas de la mitad de recorrido por delante. Yo creo que lo que se alcanza a ver no es la cima sino algún punto anterior que esconde la cima y por eso da la sensación de estar tan cercana.
Esto se confirma cuando vas subiendo porque cuando llegas a lo que parece la cima aparece otra cima detrás y cuando llegas a esta otra, todavía hay otro punto mas alto detrás, hasta que llegas a la cima real. Esto puede ser un poco desmoralizante asi que armate de paciencia y ten presente que esta tercera parte son alrededor de 4 kilometros.

Durante todo el camino tenemos vistas muy buenas de todo el valle y a partir del mirador también hay vistas del valle y de las montañas que hay detrás.

Los últimos metros antes de llegar a la cima se combinan las rocas grandes con una zona de gravilla que nos deja en la misma cima.

Ya en la cima disfrutamos de las vistas y al bajar podemos comer en cualquiera de los restaurantes de Starý Smokovec.

This route that goes up Slavkovský štít starts at Starý Smokovec. This village is quite touristic and we'll have to park the car in one of the many parking lots available. We could also park the car on the road a few hundred meters below and avoid paying for parking the car. I paid 10 Euros for the whole day.

The route can be divided into three sections:
The first one, of about one and a half kilometers in length, consists of a wide track from Starý Smokovec to a signpost that indicates the way to go up Slavkovský štít.
The second part, which after about two kilometres of not so wide path will take us to a viewpoint.
And the third one, of almost 4 Km on a rocky area, which goes from the viewpoint to the top.

The slope is quite constant from start to end although it slowly gets steeper as we go up.
This route is not difficult but on the third part there are a few spots with bigger rocks where it is a bit more difficult to walk. Most of the time it feels like someone spent time placing the rocks on their flat side to make walking much easier.

At the viewpoint there is a plaque that shows all the mountains that can be seen from there, including Slavkovský štít. It looks like the summit is quite close. This could be misleading since there are still 4 Km ahead. I think what can be seen from there is not the summit but some earlier point hiding the real summit and that's why it looks like it's so close.
You realize this when you are going up because when you reach what seems to be the top, another higher point appears behind, and this happens several times. This could be a bit demoralizing so take your time and keep in mind that this third part is more than half of the whole track distance.

There are nice views of the valley all along the way and from the lookup point onwards we also have views of the valley and mountains behind.

In the last few hundred meters there is a gravel area and some more rocks that will leave us at the summit.

Enjoy the views from the top and when getting down you can enjoy a nice meal in one of the several restaurants at Starý Smokovec.
