Itinerary description
A route to reach the top of Skoubarda hill south of Leros. We started the hike from a point of the dirt road which reaches the top. We walk on the dirt road with an uphill slope and several turns. Along the way we meet two animal yards. After a long time and as we are in the straight line where the big antenna is, there is an old half-ruined path on our left from which you can escape several meters of road and reach the top faster. As you climb it you follow the road to the left that reaches the highest point. There is a large antenna, old Italian tunnels and points where there were machine guns during World War II. There are also old half-ruined Italian buildings. Returning from the same road, and continuing from the point we had reached when we climbed the path, we meet scattered Italian buildings as well as the monastery of Agios Paisios with a beautiful view to the sea and the island of Kalymnos opposite. We continue the dirt road for our descent and return. At a point about 1 km later, we went off the road and went down the hill to the left in order to avoid the many turns of the road. The path was improvised but quite passable. In this way we walked a shorter distance and reached the starting point faster.
