Itinerary description
The start of the hike starts at Lake Skannatati -- located in Harriman State Park -- which approximately in the mid-section of the park.
Park at Lake Skannatati parking lot and proceed to the north west of the parking lot where ASB trailhead begins.
Take the A-SB trail for a 1.05 miles. At this point, the trail splits. Make a right on the A-SB and continue on until trail hits "Time Square". "Time Square" is a term that means that several trails intersects at that point At that point the following trails intersects ; Long Path,A-SB,and RD.
Continue on the hike by make a a left on RD and continue on the path until Black Rock -- which is about 2.08 miles from Times Square. Along the ridge of Hogencamp and Black Rock Mt, there are great views of the surrounding area.
Once at Black Rock, take the Nurian trail all the way to Island Pond Rd. At Island Pond Rd, make a right and about 1000 ft make a right onto the Dunning trail. At the beginning of the trail, there is mine that can be explored. The mine is called Boston Mine -- one cautionary note ; the mine is flooded with water so be careful.
From the point of the mine, take the Dunning trail till intersects with A-SB trail which is approximately 3.15 miles. Finally take the A-SB trail straight back to the parking lot.
