Itinerary description
Very nice hike in the forest, some parts/paths arent really cleared. Better to do this hike without kids, may be adventurous !
Down we had to climb a gate to reach the lagoon but you can also walk around and access from the bottom!

Nice trail!
There was only one specific point with high vegetation where we had to force our way through for some 250 meters, but no big deal

Great hike, minus being on roads a lot of the time (at the beginning at least).
Writing this review mostly because:
1. When you dip off the road past the private property sign (do people still use/read these?), I went to take some photos of an old church and shortly after encountered a lady who booted me out. She was extremely friendly, but told me her parents live across the path, and have "dogs." I thanked her for being kind, and she let me out the gate. I didn't see a single car back there, the houses looked abandoned, and it took her 10 minutes to find the gate key...what do these people do on a daily basis?!
2. I then wandered up the road to one castle like all the other tourists, except they had their button down shirts and such, while I was in full hiking gear. I decided to take a "shortcut" on the way down and ended up braving my own path for some 5 hours. It's not hard at all here to veer off even with your phone in front of you...tons of undocumented trails and makeshift paths. My point: along the way, I popped out into someone's back yard, after climbing rocks and falling in holes. Great!
Much to my surprise, these folks had "dogs" as well. I have it in quotes as these are not family golden retrievers but rather German shepherds ready to attack. I climbed on top of a rock pile as quickly as I could to avoid them, until they gave up.
My partner is a lawyer and neither of us have any clue why these backwoods people feel it's necessary to have "dogs" when the only potential intruders are wandering/lost tourists. There are no thieves, killers, or otherwise hostile people - it just seems to be all the rage here because they are so terrified of something. Growing up in upstate NY, we had a similar issue where backwoods people seemed to find it okay to shoot at average walkers/runners/hikers with shotguns and rifles (don't ask how I know). It's much the same.
I suggest being very cautious on this route. I'm an animal lover, but for the love of God, carry some mace or other non-lethal defense if you go back there.
Great scenery, great length hike, and avoids a lot of tourists. Lots of places to sit down and have a snack or refill your water. But watch out for the nutjobs with their DAMN DOGS!
