Itinerary description
Sindola looks simple from the base, but it is not. It is a fun climb of about 2 hours, with some hard work towards the end.
There are two possible base villages. We started from Karanjale, about 3.5hr drive from Pune. You can either go via Junnar or Alephata. If coming from Mumbai, you would climb up from Malshej ghat and find Karanjale next to Pimplegaon dam. This region has so many hiking destinations - you can stay for a month and do a different hike every day.
The trail starts just before Mauli hotel, climbs up to a ridge. Some leisurely walk along the ridge and then you come to a patch of a steep climb, followed again by a gradual ridge walk to get to the base of the rocky top (katal). The trail traverses on the left side of the rock and then steeply climbs to the summit. This part is fun, but be careful of the scree.
Top is just a little not-so-pretty-grassy. But go to the opposite (west) side to get the best view of the surroundings. Very panoramic.
While returning, we went off the ridge walk to the left side thinking it will be faster way to the base, but it is not very good path.
