Itinerary description

This is a 2 night alternative to the more habitual 3 night trek from Buyit Ras to Chenek. Along the way espectacular landscapes as well as fauna like the Gelada monkey and Walya ibex were found. Following is the description of the itinerary

Day 1: Depart from Buyit Rass(3110 m) viewpoint (in the road from Debark to Chenek) to Sankaber campsite(3252 m). [8.5 km, accumulated ascent 310 m, 3 hours stops included].

Day 2: Sankaber (3252 m) to Gich camp(3620 m). On the way we stop at the viewpoint for Jim Bahir falls and the river crossing. After setting the camp we climb to Kendadit mountain (3770 m) and walk to a viewpoint faced westwards to see the sunset.[16 km, accumulated ascent 900 m, 7 hours stops excluded].

Day 3: Gich camp (3620) to Imet go go (3926), then we continue to Inetya mountain (4070 m). After Inetya, instead of continuing to Chenek we take a detour which leads back to the road . [17 km, accumulated ascent 800 m, 6 hours stops included).

From our experience, it would be possible to trek from Buyit Ras to Gich camp in just one day departing from Debark at early morning.
