Itinerary description
1st part of the 3 day hike Sigchos- Quilotoa. Takes about 4hr. Because of afternoon rains as from sometime in september (I hiked on September 28, and the rains started September 26), best to hike in the mornings. It's a nice, enjoyable walk, half of it following the dirt road, half of it shortcuts through fields and pastures. The first part is downhill, offering sweeping views of the valley/canyon, after crossing the river you go uphill, not too steep, untill you get to Cochalo de Isinliví, whereafter you have to cross the hills on your left side, following a steep small path through the pastures for about 45'. I met a couple of improvised fences where a farmer lets his cattle graze on the path, just close them behind you again. Great views again, especially when joining the dirt road, overlooking the valley on your right. When I got Isinliví village in sight, I missed the footpath on the right (where the road curves 90°). The road is a long detour, the path goes downhill through the creek and up again. So I backtracked the part where I followed the road for too long. I checked in at Llulu Llama, and wow, what a nice place to stay!! Next to Wikiloc I used maps.me (downloaded map), as it shows even the tiniest trails, and helps getting your bearing and the bigger picture.
