We were going to start the route from the Riliski refuge at an altitude of approximately 2100 meters, which can be reached by cable car, but when we arrive the guard at the entrance (5 levs to park) tells us that it is not operational. We don't understand if it's because of an engine breakdown, if it's closed on Fridays or if the several men who were in the area offering jeeps in exchange for cash were interested... in short, we changed plans and decided to take it on foot, adding to The route has 500 meters of extra altitude. The ascent is not lost and you can use a multitude of alternatives, following the wide track, the route marked by the chairlift, or any path that we find and always going up towards the refuge hotel, crossing a beautiful forest. of pine trees and leaving along the way a curious and equipped shelter inside a green bus.
The area is known as the Seven Rila Lakes (although there are countless routes in the area) and access is easy. This particular route passes through the 7 lakes, but also deviates from the classic route followed by most visitors, ascending the imposing Black Peak or Haramiyata as the most striking extra.
We follow a direction towards the south with respect to the refuge on a well-marked path. At 1.5 km at the intersection, we will continue to the left (east) while in the same direction and further down we see the Dolnoto ezero lake (the lower lake). In a short time we will see the second lake called Ribnoto ezero (Lake of Fish). We will walk southwest around the perimeter of the lake and at the point where there is a fountain, the path intersects. We continue towards the southwest and south, climbing towards the hill while to our right we see the impressive and steep summit of Haramiata, which we crown. From the top, we have an incredible view of the lakes.
Descending from the summit, the path continues almost in the direction of the ridge to the south, west and northwest for 1.5 km. In this section there are some signs but no clear path. Then we will re-enter a clear path and soon pass by the Salzata ezero (the Tear) lake. The trail descends gently northwest toward Lake Okoto ezero (the Eye). The direction changes to the east and the road descends passing through the lakes Babreka ezero (The Kidney), Bliznaka ezero (The Twins) and Trilistnika ezero (The Clover). Continuing towards the north, we will find the ascent path and at this point the circle closes. The last kilometer of the return is common with the ascent path to the Riliski refuge/hotel. At this point we only have to retrace the path from the beginning and go down to the parking lot, either through the cobbled areas, following the paths that are now on the left through the forest or with a mixture of both.
