Itinerary description
This is a beautiful route that I really enjoyed but with a very rough terrain. This sierra is composed of the characteristic limestone rock that takes the shape of "lapiaz" (rocks with furrowed grooves, very typical in the mountain range found at the center of the province of Malaga) which is especially dangerous in some areas where your ankles and feet can get stuck. Completing one kilometer in this terrain takes two or three times more than what it'd take on a normal and clear trail. Actually there are no paths and the best way to cross this terrain is by following the paths made by the goats, which have a more or less distinctive darker color. The easiest sections of this route are the dirt road and the "dolina" (claw-bottomed depression) where the San Jorge lagoon is located (but dry this time). It's quite easy to spot wild goats in these mountains.
