Itinerary description

A loop from Shiplake along the Thames Path to Sonning Eye then back via roads and footpaths.

Start at Shiplake. It is possible to park towards the Western end of Memorial Avenue. Go down to the Thames path then follow Thames path to Sonning Eye. Go along Spring Lane on a footpath separated from the road.

On reaching The Flowing Spring pub, take a permissive path along the edge of a field on the North side of the A4155 road. Then return to Shiplake on public footpaths and bridleways. At one point near Shiplake the routes of the rights of way go across fields of crops but there is an alternative route on permissive paths round the edge of the fields which are only slightly longer.,
