Itinerary description
Shikoku Nature Trails 20-21 : Senba Kaigan cliff to Mugi port (千羽海岸 - 牟岐港)
The night before, I stayed in Hiyosa. I woke up before dawn, so I drove a short distance to "Ebisu-do Cave".
After watching the beautiful sunrise, I stopped at a convenience store to get some food, parked the car at Michi no Eki Hiwasa, and started today's hike.
The route I hiked today faithfully followed the Shikoku Nature Trail (Shikoku no Michi), from Course 20, "The Path that Views the Senba Coast," to Course 21, "The Path that Breezes with the Sea Breeze.
The route is not an easy one, as it repeatedly ups and downs in small increments along the Senba Coast, but it offers a spectacular view of the blue sea and sheer cliffs on the left side. Once, the route went away from the coast toward the village of Yamakawachi, passing through a idyllic village, and then back into the mountains toward the coastline and over a mountain pass.
After descending the mountain road, the route joins the Minamiamiami Sunline and soon turns onto a narrow side road running slightly seaward, passing "Morasko Mugi" before arriving at Mugi Port.
I took the train from Mugi Station back to Hiwasa Station to end today's scenic hike.
