Itinerary description

Shamprasar mountain ( Շամփրասար լեռ ) is a peak with the height of 3259 m, and Akna mountain or Aknasar mountain ( Ակնասար լեռ ) is a peak with the height of 3258 m, near Akna Lake ( Akna lich) in the Geghama mountains ( Գեղամա լեռներ ), Armenia.

Some information about the trail:

--- This trail includes both hiking and 4 x 4 driving.
First we got closer to Shamprasar by 4 x 4 vehicle, then we head to the mountain, to Akna lake , Aknasar mountain and back to the lake.
--- The way up to the mountain Shamprasar can be considered as challenging one as it has steep parts, the way to down is way easier.
--- The way to Aknasar is more challenging than the way to down.
--- The best season for photoshoots here is June, July. From October till June the trails to this area are snow blocked.
--- This is only one way , the way back to Sevaberd is not counted here.

~~~WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE GEGHAM MOUNTAINS ON THE WHOLE~~~
--- In the territory of the whole Geghama range ( Գեղամա լեռներ )there are a lot of tents of Yezidis (national minority in Armenia), which are shepherds' tents. You can contact them, if you need any help.
--- There are huge dogs of shepherds spread in this area (Alabay, Armenian Gampr or Caucasian shepherd), they can attack even if you are not so close to their territory or near tents. Usually they bark but don't bite, but you should be aware, pass that part quickly and have some food to throw them in case if they come very close to you (it can be also a slice of bread)
--- The weather in the Gegham mountains is awfully unsustainable, it can be sunny, rainy and stormy simultaneously during 2 hours so be ready for the weather changes and don't trust so much weather forecasts in this area.
--- The perfect season for the Geghama range is from early June till the beginning of August, the best season is July (June is still snowy, the vegetation gets dried in August).
--- There is not any mobile service that works in the Gegham mountains, they work only when you are close to its villages, also you can have service in the locations below :
-- Close to Lake Akna, on the summit of mountain Shamprasar, Shushan and Aknasar .
--- On Azhdahak summit (near the triangle)
--- Near Nalsar mountain (Not always)
--- Near Vishapalich lake's dragonstones (Vishapner) (Not always)
