Itinerary description

Be prepared for 30% of this trail surface to consist of large rocks and cobblestones as we walk on trails thru the huge rock piles caused by past gold dredging. Mountain bikes have caused some rutting in areas. Other parts of the trail are soft dirt and/or gravel.

The first part of the hike, using the Middleridge Trail, offers views of the river and city that are amazing.

Trekking poles and high-topped hiking boots definitely suggested.

Gristmill

I couldn't find any history on this though I've spoken to an old-timer who told me this was an old gristmill powered by the water canal built in the 1800's that started up in Auburn.

Trailsign for Snowberry Creek Trail

This sign is very hard to find hidden somewhat in the brambles plus the vandalism to it. It is right in front of a lovely pond.
