Seven lakes 9/9/23.
SUMMARY: Obligatory route. Very easy to follow (although a little hard) and super well signposted.
IMPORTANT: We recommend doing it counterclockwise. Leave soon, take 8 hours max so you don't get caught by the bull. Parking in the national park costs €20/24h. If you spend half an hour, they will charge you €20 more (quite unfair). In principle, it is prohibited to spend the night in the park (unless you sleep in a shelter).
Short description:
Highly recommended. The amount of different landscapes at different altitudes is impressive.
MORE CONCRETE DESCRIPTION:
The route begins with a climb through a lush forest, to reach some “plains” of green meadows with some shelters and grazing cows.
Gradually, as the climb becomes more intense, a somewhat lunar landscape is transformed, which immerses you in rocky craters with indecipherable shapes until you reach a refuge with incredible views. This is where the hardest part ends. The coffee from the Regulinchi refuge but they bring it by helicopter! Although it's better to order a well-deserved beer. Fun fact: at the highest point of the refuge there is 4G. During the route, there is no coverage 90% of the time, so we recommend downloading the offline route.
The descent is calm and offers a few spectacular lakes (those on the way down, because the lakes that we find on the way up, in the month of September are super weak... they are little ponds more than lakes).
The last part of the descent is the same as where we went up.
If you are in shape, a very affordable although long route. We took a nap, actually. Hence the 11.30am it took us. The nuts and apples made it more enjoyable.
Enjoy it!
