Service Basin - Lower Nine Mile Creek Loop
Category - Long Walk
Distance - 16 kms
Est. Time - 6.5/7 hours (with lunch & viewing stops) or 4.5/5 hours (constant moving) Grade - 3+
Style - Loop
Type - Nature, scenic & historical walk; good/high level of fitness required.
Track - Along forest roads.
Terrain - Steep 8% average ascent up Service Basin Road for 4km. Descent of Lower Nine Mile Road to the Nine Mile Creek crossing is steep 10/12% average.
Creek Crossing - Nine Mile Creek. 2nd pair of foot wear light weight Sandals are required for crossing
Getting there
Yackandandah.
Take Bells Flat Road and then on to Service Basin Road. Car parking available at Service Basin Road departure point. No Facilities in the area. Closest facilities are Yackandandah.
Route
Service Basin Road(steep 8% for 4km) to Runnells Rd turn left onto Runnells Rd.
Runnells Rd(steep 12% rocky section 150 meters) to Wallaby Rd turn left onto Wallaby Rd.
Wallaby Rd to Kerry Eagle Rd left onto Kerry Eagle Rd follow to Lower Nine Mile Rd turn left, steeply down(10/12%) to creek crossing.
Lower Nine Mile Rd after creek crossing is easy terrain
Lower Nine Rd turn left onto Yack Gate Rd
Yack Gate Rd to Service Basin Rd
