Itinerary description

Great hike. Easy and cheap to get to from La Paz. Find transportation at Terminal Minasa (in Villa Fátima). A bus going to Coroico will do. Pay 20bs to get on the bus and get off at "La Cumbre". From there, push your way up to the ridge line as indicated on the map. Once on the ridge line, follow it uphill, back in the direction of La Paz. It's a spectacular ridge with views in all directions. Eventually the ridge drops off and you have to hike down to a pass and back up to the summit on the other side. This is the toughest part of the hike. Once on the other side, you can see Waranqa, the tallest mountain on the hike. Traverse your way over to Waranqa and scramble up to reach the 5100-meter summit. From the summit of Waranqa you can see multiple 6000-meter peaks, the cities of La Paz and El Alto and even Lake Titicaca. Below, you will see Laguna Encanto. Hike down to this lake. Then, follow the valley down towards La Paz. It will funnel you to the toll stop of the main high way. This is the edge of Villa Fátima and you can find public transport to take you back into the city.
