Being "butterfly grove" closed by the forest the only alternative to see sequoias in the park of yosemiti (to my knowledge) is in 'toulume'
right at the entrance of tioga road there is a picnic area where you can park your car and then the trail starts for about a mile and a half to observe them.
I only saw 1 but I know that there is more because it was indicated in the maps.
