Itinerary description
The Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) is a trail that officially runs between Bomerano and Nocelle, but that most people decide to extend it to Positano. Not for the pleasure to climb down the 1700 (did not count them) stairs that will ruin most peoples knees and leg muscles for a couple of days, but because after seeing Positano in the distance you cannot resist its allure. It is easy to understand why people believed that Sirens lived around. You still feel prey to their charms.
This path is world famous and is in most lists of the most beautiful tracks of the world. And rightly so. Even the crowds do not ruin its appeal. This said do not take it lightly. Some parts of the track are not easy, many are exposed and temperatures in the region tend to be extreme. Bring water, sunscreen, and expect a harder trail than its length seems to indicate. And enjoy it... If you have the opportunity you should not miss it.
Suggestions: You do not need a guide, you can just follow the crowd or use this track on your cell phone.
Between km 2 and 3.5 there are two parallel tracks at different levels. I took the upper one that is far less crowded. All the groups take the lower track. At the end of this when the two tracks converge (km 3.5) you will have the best photo spot (pistillo) to have yourself photographed with Positano in the background.
Being linear you may need to pay a taxi to the starting point. From POsitano you have taxis, bus and boats to reach any point in the Amalfi Coast.
BTW: The elevation gain and loss given by wikiloc are completely wrong. The track is essentially downhill staring at around 650 m and ending at sea level. If you return from Nocelle makinga a round trip the chances in elevation are very modest and the views still amazing...
