Itinerary description
At the west end of town, past the gas station; a sign on the right hand side clearly marks the start of the path. The path is well marked by strips on oil skin suspended from the trees. After a short distance you will reach a sign saying `Sendero de Los Canelo Recinto Privada 1000 pesos por persona’. The land owner is on the nearest house and you have to give him the money to continue (he’s very nice). The rest of the route is moderately steep and soft/muddy underfoot, you could do it with young children. We did it on a beautiful autumnal morning and the light was magical. Lovely horses and some handsome calves. We saw no one up or down and the view from the top over the sound and the pueblo of Puyuhuapi was marvellous. There are a few side trails you can wander down as well. Check out the tourist office in town for further trails. Claudia there is super helpful.
