Albuqueria – Barranco Blanco – Puerto de los Pescadores
This walk is an extended version of the PR-A 338 Albuqueria – Barranco Blanco. It is a linear walk.
You either need 2 cars, one at each end, or get dropped off and get picked up, which is what I did.
The first section of the walk I decided to use part of the new PR-A 311 by going left at the first junction. This was a nice climb which brings you up before the gate (taking the right path which was damaged by the rains the last time I used it brings you before the gate. The two paths run sort of parallel).
Going ahead now you come to the next junction where you turn left and start your descent to the small bridge over the river Alaminos in Barranco Blanco. There are two benches there in the shade of two Algarrobo trees, a good spot for a break.
On the right hand side of the bridge if you go down there is a pool and waterfall, but access is hard due to the path being washed away.
From Barranco Blanco it is a gentle climb to pick up part of the GR 249 that takes you to Puerto de los Pescadores. You go under a tunnel to get to the other side of the road.
When you get to the ‘La Mota Castle’ the path is overgrown with bushes and there are landslides, so I used the water gully on the left which was easier to pass. I stopped at La Ventilla restaurant for a nice cold beer.
