Itinerary description
Last part of the ascent to Semeru. This is the final 3 km hike from Kalimati. Most of it is a path of volcanic ash and pebbles, which makes it really tough: two steps forward, one back! You climb nearly 1000 meters in barely 3 km, with a nearly constant inclination of about 30%. Bring walking sticks and warm clothes. Temperatures can drop to about 0 degrees.
