Tidal and Estuary influences affect this route!
Although the Seaside Hike & Bike is a single trail it has been broken down into... Seaside - The Cove to The Prom, Seaside - The Promenade, Seaside - 12th Ave to The Estuary. So if your not into a 5.4 mile route then you can try one of the other trails that make up Seaside Hike & Bike. Drive to 12th Ave in Seaside then head North on Franklin to the end of the road where you can lock up your bike......
Start the trail at the Cove (Seltzer park, parking lot). Walk over the rocks and onto the beach. Follow the beach (tide willing) for a few hundred yards then head East to pick up the South end of the prom. Hike the Prom (1.5 mile) to 12th Ave parking lot where you can then gain the beach again following the beach trail West to the beach then take the water line North and then East into the Estuary. Leave the Estuary at the treeline where the Seaside water treatment plant is to where you left your bike! Take Franklin back to 12th, head West to the Prom....ride the Prom. At the end of the prom take a left onto the road then take the second right. The road will take you back to the start of the trail....Restrooms - At Seltzer Park, The Shilo Inn half way along the Prom, 12th Ave parking lot.
