Itinerary description
A must do walk if you are staying in Karamea. It is an easy walk through stunning rain forest along ridges with big crashing waves on the side to two beautiful beaches. All the while with beautiful vistas of the mountains. It follows the Heaphy Walk track. If you want you can walk another 70km.
We tried to walk over the first beach to the end to pick up the track from there. But that was not possible as the track climbs higher along the beach and two birds were making very sure that we turned back :). Don’t go back at the beach with the big rock (scots beach), but continue to the next big beach for some great crashing waves on the rocks below you along the way.
To get there drive to the end of the good gravel road and park at the doc camping.
