Did you ever hear of the Döppeskaulbach? Here is your chance.

Part of the Hike follows the better known Daffodil-Trail. From the parking at Gut Heistert (no restaurant service) the trail follows the Perlbach upstream, then enters the beautiful Schwalmbach Valley. It crosses into Belgium, within the shooting range of the Elsenborn military complex - though you are unlikely to notice unless an exercise is in progress. A warning sign will let you know whether you can proceed or not.

From the Schwalmbach Valley cross into the valley of the Döppeskaulbach - do not try to even remember the name. You may have to cross some bog. Eventually, you reach the Fuhrtsbach - from here the trail is on good forest roads, back to Gut Heistert.

The Daffodils are an extra bonus, usually end of March or early April. The area then can be crowded at weekends, not so during working days. The entire trail is very worthwhile any time of the year.
