Good trail , had to silence the phone when it kept telling me i was going astray. Roughly knew the way myself. It gets tougher after 9km, gorse, bog, steep uphills. Lots of hikers out this May Bank Holiday Sunday.

Great trail with wonderful scenery. A bit windy on the day that I did it (July 2023). Most of the trail is earth/peat singletrack, with about a quarter of it on harder firetrack or stony paths. Not too boggy at all, even after a fair bit of rain the previous couple of weeks. And no peat hags/bog bunkers! A tiny bit steep in a couple of places, but generally moderate enough. The first track through the woods (after 1km) was a bit overgrown, so had to do a bit of crouching down to get through the trees. Around 3.75 km in, after walking along the path beside the forest, there's about 0.5km of ferns to get through. Obviously not an issue in winter, but a bit difficult to find the path when the ferns are almost head-height! I lost the trail again a bit after Barton's Woods, so hiked through the heather towards where the trail crossed Duff Brook. No real problems following the trail after that.
